THE ACADEMY

For children 8 years and upwards, The Academy provides a broad range of dance styles.

While more traditional in approach, our focus on holistic learning and teaching the mind, body and craft remains carefully cultivated. Classes are created in line with well-established and researched methods where psychological and physiological safety is a priority.

Performance

Opportunities

Academy students and teachers love what they do and are grateful for opportunities to dance with and for others, through many performance opportunities. These include performing in the Adelaide Fringe, Candance (annual cancer research fundraiser), The Village Christmas pageant and our own Musical productions.

Students and staff agree however that the highlight of the year is our annual Academy Performance. Purposely scheduled in September to avoid inevitable conflicts with school events in Term 4, the production is staged in a professional theatre within the beautiful Barossa Valley, 50 minutes from our studios. Families delight in ‘making a weekend’ of it, and students enjoy sharing their love of dance with each other and those they love.

EXAMS

Examinations are offered to our Classical Ballet students through the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet system of training.

Whilst not compulsory, they provide a goal to work towards and provide valuable feedback to the students.

Students in Level 1 require one lesson per week, with Students in Level 2 and above are required to attend two lessons per week.

Examinations are conducted at the DanceArts studios generally in June or July of each year.
